This is all terribly boring.

Things to try:
- Electrostim, starting 1x a day and moving to 2x a day.
- More water: start at 1 liter, move to 2, ultimately 3.
- Try magnesium before bed, in supplements or in pepitos.
- Eat more: sweet potatoes.
- Try ginger tea: cubes of ginger in hot water for 5 min.

I might snag some of these ideas, if you don't mind.

I drink at least a gallon of water a day. It started back in the dark ages when I was nursing babies, but my youngest is almost 9, so that's not an excuse anymore. When I was learning to drink more water here are some things that helped me:

--find out what temp you like your water (I like room temp in the summer, hot in the winter)
--figure out what shaped container is the easiest to drink out of (I occasionally use a cup/glass, but usually stick with BPA-free bottles with sports caps or wide mouths)
--use a big container (my 16 oz Vapur is too small, so I carry two; 1 liter is a better size if you can find the right container.
--if you're really having trouble getting enough in you, try soda water. One liter of mandarin orange soda water goes down me in a flash.
--always have a full container of water around. I usually have two.
--I carry a 3 liter bottle of water in my car so I can refill the one I carry in my bag.

I don't know how much help this might be, but I hope your new ideas help with the pain!

my hips LOVED electrostim. my knees were unimpressed.

if you're willing to answer, what are the foods meant to help? i know ginger can help with digestion, but i'm not sure about the others. i am curious, like a cat, only with less fur and minimaly bendy spine.

Yeah, same, it helps my neck and shoulders but not so much my legs.

The sweet potato is supposed to improve mood to help with pain; the pepitos are supposed to increase magnesium which is supposed to help with *looks* muscle spasm? Anyway, it's all for the fibro or the migraines.

i have yet to do any research into what foods might help ease fibro symptoms. i've had migraines and chronic tension headaches for a lot longer and i've always been slightly skeptical of any food helping or hurting my head. but the last time i tried to modify my eating habits to ease headaches i was 16 and my body has changed a lot since then and the fibro has appeared far more recently.

a long and complicated way of saying that i'd interested in knowing how the sweet potato and pepitos work for you.

may I suggest glucosamine and Vitamin E? And Vitamin D. All help to lessen joint pain etc. All of these you could get at like...Sam's Club and such. Just...trying to help.

Glucosamine, I tried, and it helped with the merrily popping joints. Should go back on that! Haven't heard about E, I'll add that to the list. Thank you for the suggestions!

You're welcome! I have a lot of pain issues as well and being in my line of work, I'm always looking for easier ways to get the pain to go away to advise my clients ^^

I use a daily magnesium to help with chronic headaches and migraines at the suggestion on the neurologist and it helps. It doesn't prevent them but the daily headache is gone.
I also use Glucosamine for joint issues and it seems to help so I continue it. I know vitamin E is often suggested if you have breast lumps over your cycle.
Muscle & joint aches - you should avoid the nightshade family (tomatoes and potatoes) as they can more joint pain. Sweet potatoes are a different family and are well recommend currently because of the perceived health benefits.
Chew a couple of tums for muscle ache, especially if you are doing more than you are used to. The lactic acid build up in muscles is reduced by the tums. Works beautifully and bonus of calcium.

Heya.
My sis in law has fibro, and i'm going to pass her this link so she can take a look. She hates pain meds - they wipe her out - and something like sweet potatoes is a whole lot easier than expensive meds. Maybe it'll give her some ideas!

I'm taking Evening Primrose oil for the fibro I'm not sure I feel any different yet but I hope it helps. I would love to be able to drink ginger tea but it gives me terrible heartburn.

My brain is on the fritz today, but I'm pretty sure you get chronic migraines yes? Please becareful with the ginger; it affects the neurotransmitters (why you eat it when nauseous) but for people who have migraines it can go the other way and make the nausea way worse. It all depends on your sensitivity.

I'm of the firm opinion water helps everything (tastes disgusting though *shrug*), because it cleans out toxins. Good luck. Hopefully you'll hit on the combination that works for you soon. Chronic pain absolutely sucks.

A second chronic migraine sufferer here and I too have had some relief with magnesium. Didn't do much for the migraines, but it did help curb the daily headaches that seem to go hand in hand with migraines. Good luck with the rest!

You might want to try putting ginger on your sweet potatoes, they make a lovely flavour combination.
