Invisible Illness Awareness Week, post 4:

- Michelle Obama's father has MS." I'm not sure how I missed this; I guess that's what I get for missing the Democratic National Convention? So for caregivers and family members, who can never get enough credit for being the patient souls they are, there's some representation in both parties.
- Coach, Heal Thyself: a chronic pain life-coach learns that she needs to listen to her own advice. Plus she gets credit for having a blog that references the Vagina Monologues.
- The Body Chronic lists 5 things she's learned about stress + chronic illness.
- Some slides from Dr. Mease's Recognizing Fibromyalgia As a True Disease Entity are shown here. Quote from another slide: "We animals have a volume control setting for how our brain and spinal cord processes pain." Turn it up to 11! *headbang*

Sep. 8th, 2008 03:57 pmFrom September 8th to the 14th is Invisible Illness Awareness Week. I'm going to try to blog daily on the topic of invisible disability, but ironically my fibromyalgia is flaring up, so we'll see what I can do.
