I don't see how the article espouses divisiveness so much as it calls attention to a divisiveness that already exists. There's a big difference.
I also agree with nilchance; the article doesn't blame the Republican party for this divisiveness. It's merely an illustration of how that preexisting divisiveness is currently being applied. The fact that it happens to ALSO go along party lines is, largely, irrelevant.
