~ Anybody got good recommendations for accessory basics like a belt, or a nice interview purse?

~ I would really appreciate any energy/prayers/good thoughts re: getting a new job. I miss health insurance.

I ♥ Overstock.com for cheap, yet nice, stuff.

Purses!!

Accessories!!

You can narrow things down by price and color, to make finding what you want even easier.

*sends warm fuzzies*

Actually if you guys can swing down this weekend, I have a few suits you could take too, if you want to try them on. Some skirts, blouses... between our size difference and your boobs, the shirts should fit. Gimme a call or drop an email. shughes@circlestarconsulting.com.

depends on your funds. i usually hit Target (the men's dept for belts that fit me, usually) and they have mid-range priced interview type purses (between 18-30 dollars). other than that, i also sometimes luck out with XL belts at Kohl's and the like...same for purses.

Instead of a purse, think about getting something that looks more like a briefcase/messenger bag--nothing too big or expensive, just something you can put a notepad in, with a couple spare copies of your contact info/resume. It adds a pulled-together, professional look to whatever you're wearing. Target is a good place to check, as is TJMaxx or even Sears/Penneys this wkend for the sales.

Good luck!!!!

I got a great fake leather messenger bag that's burgandy at Target a few years ago. It's my audition bag. It was meant for laptops, but it fits my headshots and resumes and I can usually squeeze in a change of clothes too in case they want a dance audition too.

Good luck sweetie!
kohl's=belts

I interviewed with no purse. Just a leather folder I got at staples to keep my resume in. This last interview I realized that most folks get the resume electronically.

But I got a cute purse @ kohl's for $20

It's funny, recruiters always tell me to bring copies of my resume to the interview and I never use them. LOL.

I've no idea on the accessories, but I'm sending all my best wishes, someone else's luck, and hope for your interview and new job.

I sympathize totally on the no insurance; did that for 2.5 yrs until medicare kicked in. It is hard (read nigh on impossible) to cope with any kind of disability or chronic illness without insurance and I still have nightmares about prescriptions.

Best of luck. *hugs*

I dunno about a belt - if you're wearing a blazer/suit jacket over your pants or skirt, you probably don't need one. Or be like me and wear skirts with no belt loops ;).

The portfolio idea is a good one. I've had numerous interviews in which the other person would ask for a copy of my resume. Had one three months ago like that, in fact.

Certain colors are "good" interview colors. People love gray suits with blue tops. I don't even know! They do though. Freakin' love it. That's the perfect office outfit for every single tv show I work on. That's all my fashion advice. Most of my business stuff is hand me downs or thrift store finds. I just make sure that it's GOOD second hand stuff that looks like upscale new stuff.
