Getting Reacquainted: first, the awesomeness of the fact that there is a blog by a fat nutritionist. Second, said blogger is smart and insightful about how to survive the stress of "should". YES. "So, what I’m saying to myself, which I find comforting at times like these, is I DON’T HAVE TO DO JACK SHIT except survive. I could dump all my “obligations” tomorrow, in the most unceremonious fashion possible, and I would still be a human being who deserved to live. I start to feel better almost instantly."

Another smarty-pants on my flist:
Jun. 17th, 2009 02:54 pmCranky Alert-- Both Obama and the California Budget: "I am happy to wait patiently for someone to take a measured, strategic approach to getting those rights smartly. I'm okay with marriage not being the first item on that list. But if you ask me to trust that you have my best interests at heart, you have to first have earned that trust. Obama and his administration didn't have that to begin with, and so far he's done nothing but squander and toss away every opportunity he and they had to begin to build that trust."
This smartly sums up my resentment about Obama and DOMA, with an extra dash of "white GLBT folks bitching about POC voting blocks, please shut up now, thanks."

Okay, this isn't exactly fandom related, but I saw it on a FW-related comm.
Abercrombie & Fitch banishes an employee with a prosthetic arm to the back because she doesn't fit their beauty standards. Same company has also been in trouble for doing the same to their POC employees, and for creating racist slogans on their t-shirts.
My first year of university, I went to a college in OH where freshmen tours were asked if they wore A&F. If so, oh, you'd fit into this community so well! It was an immediate sign that the non-pretty people weren't welcome; I've never been so damned glad I a) transferred, and b) didn't fit in there in the first place. Ugh.
ETA: Those t-shirts mentioned above.
