top surgery update again

today marks two weeks until top surgery! most of the nerves have died down now that insurance has approved me. my only real anxiety now is that something will go awry the day of (the surgeon getting sick, me getting sick, my blood pressure being too high) and I won't get to have the surgery.

but it's funny; I have no nervousness about being cut open, the recovery, or the change to my body. I told my brother (although I phrased it as a radical breast reduction because I don't want to have the "I'm nonbinary" conversation yet) and he's all freaked out about OMG IT'S SURGERY, and I'm just chilling over in my happy little corner thinking about wearing button-downs that actually fit. recovery will be hard, because I'm terrible at asking for help, but it will be worth it not to flinch every time I look in the mirror.

I am a little sad to be messing up our d&d calendar by being unavailable for a week. we have a game scheduled very tentatively for three days after surgery, because I've played that close to my laparoscopy and it was fine, but laparoscopy is much less invasive, so we'll see how that goes. I know everyone understands, but damn it, *I* want to be able to get top surgery on Thursday and still play on Friday night. this impatience with myself will surely serve me well during recovery. XD

so! yes! TWO WEEKS. I have my final (video) preop with the surgeon today. holy shit.

For the love of fluffy kittens TAKE TIME TO RECOVER. Do not push it. Pushing will make recovery take LONGER. Be kind to yourself, be kind to your body.

you are absolutely correct, and I have left notes for myself and asked my wife to ride herd on me if I try to push myself too hard. my plan is to rest as often as I can and not to push, even if my jerkbrain is telling me to do so. hopefully that will make for an easier recovery.
