it's Frostmaiden day again! I've been having feelings about Skink and his slow-burn romance with the party's cleric all day, so I'm posting this song that makes me think of them:

I know this song gets used in playlists and fanvids a lot, but damn it, it's a good song and it's perfect for two deeply traumatized people who stumbled into love during multiple apocalypses. Skink is a cynic, and he was not expecting to get clobbered by his own capacity for softer emotions or to ever find someone willing to love him. plus he really likes it when they set things on fire; he usually sneaks away after the fight to shakily enjoy a cigarette, because WOW HOT.

(I.... am pretty sure the two of them have yet to kiss after weeks of dating because both of them are trying so hard not to push each other before they're ready. Skink is having vivid dreams about kissing their knuckles. they're on a boat with the rest of the party, including Skink's brother, and no privacy whatsoever. they're going to die of yearning and it is hilarious.)

As your DM and a devotee of Regency and Victorian bodice rippers, I approve of this subplot. It never fails to delight me. Even if, as weyrlady said, I do kind of want to mash them together going "Now Kiss."

LOL! they could probably use it at this point. Skink's got absolutely no fear of getting maimed by our enemies and yet incredible amounts of fear about accidentally hurting Athradel by going too fast, and I think they're likewise worried about pushing him past what he's comfortable with. but now there has been (gasp) hand-kissing! it's a whole new world!

and omg, yes, Vienna Teng is INCREDIBLE. have you seen her live mashup of Lose Yourself / Ain't No Sunshine?

I am a huge fan of Vienna Teng in a weirdly personal way. I've seen her live several times, but the first time was back in college when she came regularly to the local coffee shop/performance space in town, and I loved her but didn't really realize she was already famous. And now whenever I see mention of her out in the world I get this weird thrill of, "Oh, I knew her when!" except I didn't, really! I'm just kind of weirdly proud of her with no real reason to be. ^^;

aw, I love that! that must have been so cool to see her in such an intimate venue. and I have similar feelings about Dar Williams, she performed in a small bar near campus in my freshman year (20-mumble years ago) and I still think of that whenever I see her name.
