I haven't been using this space much, but I had the realization on my walk this morning that I can put my musical taste and disorganized blorbo flailing here. I've been deeply into tabletop roleplaying since the pandemic started, and it's been a bright spot during some grim times. I recently started playing a new Monster of the Week game run by poisontaster and had no idea what my character should be, until I remembered this song off the Mountain Goats' concept album about professional wrestling:

so Bob "the Barbarian" Page is based off me wondering what it'd be like if the werewolf gimmick was a literal thing, and if there were independent pro wrestling leagues filled with secret cryptids because it's a business that allows people to use aliases, constantly move from town to town, and stay mostly off the grid. Bob was the chill human in a locker room full of friendly monsters, and when the company went under, he was left with a bunch of weird esoteric knowledge and two bad knees, like Mick Foley turned Giles from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

he also has an RV with a flamethrower. it's been a weird retirement.

I like the idea of a group of secret cryptids making the rounds in the wresting circuits. it makes sense of a sort to me

I've been thinking about an urban fantasy set in the wrestling circuit for a loooong time for that reason, because it's perfect for somebody who needs to be on the move for various reasons. it kinda fills the same niche as supernatural carnival stories, but with spandex. XD
