dog update

Dog has gotten a long way in the 72 hours he's been in our house. It's interesting to see his personality and quirks emerge from the skittish/scared mess that we first met. (He was reclaimed from a home on neglect charges. There's no record of abuse, but he flinches if you touch his head and face.)
We've named him Tucker. He's a corgi/pitbull mix. Brindle, long-bodied and short-legged with corgi fur and a pitbull face. The rescue originally said he was 1 to 3 years old and 30 lbs. He's actually 10 months old and 40 lbs. He still mouths at your hands, growls at men, pees on the floor, and chews furniture/paper. He chewed a hole through his soft-sided crate on the second night, and then found some chocolate pudding and pooped down the entire hallway. He has all that puppy energy and a herding dog brain, so if you don't exhaust him with play and a billion walks and fetch, he creates his own fun through destruction. It's taking me, T, and T's sister to tire him out every day, and by 7 we're all usually crashed out.
He keeps waking from naps and wandering dazedly between his people to make sure we're all still there, that he's not dreaming. All he seems to want is to be told he's a good dog, because then his entire face softens and lights up. He leans into legs and wags so hard with that whippy pit tail that it sounds like God is knocking on the door.
I love him.
