And how does a human being "turn into" a patient?! Way to dehumanize people at the same time you tell them that their pain is inconveniencing you.

any clue what the context of this statement was? cause on its own it makes me fume, but I can see a number of different contexts wherein it actually would be something on our side. Like in an, "If you don't give them enough medicine to control their pain this is what happens to them" kind of way. Where he could actually be supporting us.

Try looking into hypnosis. We have done wonders in helping people to alleviate their pain-if not completely, then to a level where they can almost ignore it. At the very least it makes it livable, and can deal with the stress and depression as well. Don't listen to the jerks who say you will never get over it, or that you become a burden. Fight back!
