Whole lotta love
Nov. 1st, 2009 10:37 amThis post addresses a lot of the reasons why I don't participate in ficathons. Even the shiny ones. Especially the shiny ones. So yeah.
I had my very first nerve conduction and electro-stim test on Thursday. Exciting stuff; I laid on a table and got zapped repeatedly up my leg and my arm to see if my nerves are communicating correctly, and then I was stuck repeatedly with a wee needle to "listen" to my muscle respond. The electricity was uncomfortable, muscles jerking all over, the poor neuro (neuro doc # 2, not the guy with no personality) putting his hand up to keep me from kneeing him in the face. And the needles kind of sucked, too, though it was neat to hear the Darth Vader raspy noise of my muscles responding.
Doc 2 was apparently terrified of me; every time I joked with him, he twitched and gave me big scared eyes like Jensen faced with a fangirl.
After all that, the results were "normal", which means that I get to do a glucose resistance test and maybe a biopsy where they punch out a circle of my skin/nerves to study under microscope. I'll agree to most things shy of a spinal tap.
Unfortunate side effect of the test: my muscles have been jacked up ever since. FAIL, fibromyalgia.
TMI, maybe, but I've neglected this LJ a bit since I left the university job. Um. So we've been watching a whole lot of Criminal Minds? And I sekritly ship Emily Prentiss / Sam Winchester?
