Okay, this isn't exactly fandom related, but I saw it on a FW-related comm.

Abercrombie & Fitch banishes an employee with a prosthetic arm to the back because she doesn't fit their beauty standards. Same company has also been in trouble for doing the same to their POC employees, and for creating racist slogans on their t-shirts.

My first year of university, I went to a college in OH where freshmen tours were asked if they wore A&F. If so, oh, you'd fit into this community so well! It was an immediate sign that the non-pretty people weren't welcome; I've never been so damned glad I a) transferred, and b) didn't fit in there in the first place. Ugh.

Isn't that the store that calls their floor employees "models" so they're legally allowed to discriminate against "ugly" people?

One of my friends worked there and put "Model for A&F" on her theatrical resume which seemed dishonest to me.

Model = someone who has their picture taken to sell clothes.

It does not equal the girl who hoses innocent bystanders down with perfume.
