First, thank you, everybody who commented about the body lotion and everything! I've settled on a nice avocado oil cream, and shea butter for extra OOMPH. Yes. Very good stuff.

New question: What should I get tattooed on my belly? Ideas? Theories? Requests for me to show my rack?

Or, Our slogan. "The Lady Laughs."

Or...Um... Hotass babe?

Good choice on the lotion.

Adorable icon!

And I have no idea about the tattoo. I'll probably never get a tattoo because I'd never be able to make up my mind about what to get. As soon as I got something there'd be something else I'd see - ad infinitum - and I'd wind up looking like The Illustrated Woman. *facepalm*

The tattoo - to me, choosing a tattoo comes to either a look/style that I love or a specific something I love. I have two differently styled dragons because I love the look of them aka they're fucking pretty on my skin.

I also have winding branches of Swedish Birch on my calf because I love the style of the Japanese cherryblossom tattoos. But A) Japanese styled tattoos isn't really me B) EVERYONE and their cousin has them C) I don't like pink (the color) - so I took what I found pretty in it and turned it into something that A) has meaning and B) my colors and C) is original.

So I'd say choosing a tattoo comes with choosing what you're after. A meaning, just the pretty or even meaning as in actual words? And whether it should match an earlier made tattoo?

:) /end of stranger commenting

SHOW YER RACK!! :)

belly tattoos are awesome and also can be tricky. the skin over our bellies tends to stretch and shrink over time (even over short times, like from getting gassy and bloated etc.). Were you thinking something central, b/c circular things around belly buttons I think look awesome. Bonus points for something kinda esoteric (like the Elder Futhark or some kind of words in fancy type), or anything that lends itself to being in a circle with an open bit in the center. Or you could do something that frames your hips - a good friend of mine has roses that go around her low back and wrap around her waist. I have cute things on both hips (a battle axe on my right hip, a cheerful unicorn chasing butterflies on my left - seemed like a good balance :) ). I'd advise against "clever" tattoos that involve your bellybutton as a hole, pot, eyeball, mouth, or other opening - they're never as clever as one might like to think.

Oh my god, I hate those bellybutton-as-orifice-of-your-choice tattoos. It's invariably on the belly of some trucker who has decided to honour his girlfriend (imaginary or not) with a depiction of her you know what. Classy.

I would do something with leaves and flowers, incorporating a text that has meaning to you. (Something timeless that you'll still like in thirty years.)

That icon is adorable.

I have no good advice for tattoos. When I think of "what statement do I want to make for a long period of time" I start designing art for my tombstone instead. (Is that morbid? I think that might be morbid. But c'mon, your tombstone is there for ages and I always think of those gothic art tombstones!) I'd be careful with a tattoo on the belly though since it could shrink or stretch. I'm trying to think of a belly-ish area that pretty much stays the same throughout the years. Dunno. It might be a question for the tattoo artist.

How about some kind of climbing vine stretching from the hip area meandering to the ribs? I know I have fewer stretch marks along the kind of side area than the actual belly area, so I would imagine less chance for distortion. If you were specifically meaning the belly proper, I am kind of partial to text-based things, or sun, moon and star combinations.

If my weigh in means anything, I'd say definitely something that is important to you. Did you exchange rings at your handfasting? You can have them interlocked, what were the flowers you got for your 5th anniversary? something that is delicate, but special :) If you want words, something that has meaning to you both (a wish, a promise, a reminder) hey you'll both see and enjoy it that way. My only fear of a belly tat is not the stretching, it future possible suregeries (yes I think of those kinds of things).
