First, thank you, everybody who commented about the body lotion and everything! I've settled on a nice avocado oil cream, and shea butter for extra OOMPH. Yes. Very good stuff.
New question: What should I get tattooed on my belly? Ideas? Theories? Requests for me to show my rack?

And I have no idea about the tattoo. I'll probably never get a tattoo because I'd never be able to make up my mind about what to get. As soon as I got something there'd be something else I'd see - ad infinitum - and I'd wind up looking like The Illustrated Woman. *facepalm*

Date: 2009-03-13 07:00 pm (UTC)I also have winding branches of Swedish Birch on my calf because I love the style of the Japanese cherryblossom tattoos. But A) Japanese styled tattoos isn't really me B) EVERYONE and their cousin has them C) I don't like pink (the color) - so I took what I found pretty in it and turned it into something that A) has meaning and B) my colors and C) is original.
So I'd say choosing a tattoo comes with choosing what you're after. A meaning, just the pretty or even meaning as in actual words? And whether it should match an earlier made tattoo?

Date: 2009-03-13 07:40 pm (UTC)belly tattoos are awesome and also can be tricky. the skin over our bellies tends to stretch and shrink over time (even over short times, like from getting gassy and bloated etc.). Were you thinking something central, b/c circular things around belly buttons I think look awesome. Bonus points for something kinda esoteric (like the Elder Futhark or some kind of words in fancy type), or anything that lends itself to being in a circle with an open bit in the center. Or you could do something that frames your hips - a good friend of mine has roses that go around her low back and wrap around her waist. I have cute things on both hips (a battle axe on my right hip, a cheerful unicorn chasing butterflies on my left - seemed like a good balance :) ). I'd advise against "clever" tattoos that involve your bellybutton as a hole, pot, eyeball, mouth, or other opening - they're never as clever as one might like to think.

Date: 2009-03-13 07:47 pm (UTC)I have no good advice for tattoos. When I think of "what statement do I want to make for a long period of time" I start designing art for my tombstone instead. (Is that morbid? I think that might be morbid. But c'mon, your tombstone is there for ages and I always think of those gothic art tombstones!) I'd be careful with a tattoo on the belly though since it could shrink or stretch. I'm trying to think of a belly-ish area that pretty much stays the same throughout the years. Dunno. It might be a question for the tattoo artist.
