day 6

last night was rough. my pain spiked to a 6 even with an edible, and I was laying awake in the small hours because I hurt too much to sleep. I was very much feeling the places where I'd been cut open and the drain sites burned like hell. I'm kinda resenting the lack of narcotics with no warning whatsoever. I'll manage, but it sucks.

pain was better this morning, at least. it's there but it's much more manageable. I even sat at my desk for an hour in order to have a therapy appointment. Boodle was very happy, since the desk is where she gets all her pets and cuddles. I'm hoping the fact that I made it through an hour means that I can survive a 3-hour game on Saturday. I'll tap out if I have to, but fingers are crossed that I'll feel up to it.

my postop tomorrow got rescheduled for Friday because of an emergency surgery, which threw our household into chaos since T and I were planning to stay overnight tonight in DC to avoid traffic in the morning and my SIL had taken the morning off to sit with Yoda. everything got rearranged with no problems, but it was a frantic twenty minutes.

on an interesting note, I've been a lot more chilly since the surgery. I'm not running a fever or anything. I guess getting ten pounds of insulation off my chest recalibrated my internal thermostat. I foresee a fall and winter with plenty of fuzzy socks, sweaters, and cardigans. I'm not complaining about this outcome.

I'm less exhausted today, though I still required two naps. I even managed to read a library book for a while! so yay, my focus and energy are gradually coming back. I feel mostly human again. \o/

Yay to moving up the scale to 'mostly human'! :D
I swear, they just reset my inner thermostat when i had my abdominal surgery years ago. I'm cold A LOT, and even sleep in freakin' sweatshirts and stuff now sometimes, and always an electric blanket. Kinda crazy.

I can believe it! bodies do weird things when they've had a big shock, I guess.
