this sums up the day: I laid down for five minutes and took a 90 minute nap instead. that's my second nap of the day. on the other hand, I'm no longer so tired that I'm seeing double.
there's more discomfort than pain. the numbness has died down enough that I'm aware of the compression of the surgical binder around my ribs making it harder to breathe deeply. there's the occasional prickle of pain that may be nerves reconnecting to my nipple grafts? which is very cool. I'm no longer taking edibles during the day, but I'll probably still take them at night for the sake of sleep.
after my right drain had a huge output yesterday, it's gone back to about 10 mL every 8 hours. I have to be under 20 mL a day to get the drains out at my postop on Thursday, so I have my fingers crossed that we won't have to make a second trip to DC a week after the postop. we'll see, I guess.
I'm not allowed to leave the apartment and go outside at all until the postop, so I've been longingly staring out the window a lot. I'm also not allowed to shower until the postop, so I'm very grateful for the invention of body wipes and dry shampoo because ugh. I've still got betadine and purple marker on me from where the surgeon drew on me before surgery, which stubbornly refuses to budge even with alcohol wipes.
all in all, it's not a bad day even if I'm chafing at the restrictions a bit. I played some solo d&d until I got tired, and that definitely helped with the bored restlessness. people have been so generous with the recs for things to do while I'm laid up, and I'm so grateful. <3

Date: 2025-09-16 02:00 am (UTC)Dunno. I didn't get my drains out the first time I went in because of how much tissue I'd had removed. Here's hoping you don't have the same problem.
