I've been gone from DW/LJ so long that it seems awkward to insert myself back into the stream. Especially after a blunt post like the last one.

So here's a funny story from yesterday:

I was sitting in the parking lot of a grocery store yesterday, waiting for an appt with my shrink. I was idling with the A/C on, listening to an audio book (Garden of Iden by Kage Baker, very good so far) and this dude opened my driver's side door.

I shoved him hard enough to bounce him off his van door. And then I burst into tears. (Did I mention that I've been diagnosed with PTSD? Yeah.)

He was apologetic as hell, because he'd just been clumsily trying to explain that my seat belt was hanging outside my door. He was very concerned about me, less so that he'd been shoved by mini!crippled!Hulk.

The funny part is that his wife was in the van. She opened the passenger door, investigating the loud bang followed by a stream of horrified apologies, heard what was going on, rolled her eyes, and closed the door without a word.

Story over. *curtsys*

How are you folks?

I'd have done the same thing, actually.

I'm doing okay. Sorry the summer is heading toward over.

:DDDD Kage Bakerrrrrrr. The Company books get a little weird in later installments -- I'm not saying bad weird, just weird -- but they're so gloriously inventive and funny and tragic and out-of-left-field, and they appeal on so many fronts to my inner child. I adore them.

... yes, that was totally the point, what.

That's kind of a hilarious story. Glad that it didn't turn out to be some crazy murderer. Plus, that guy's wife is someone I can identify with.

Right? I am also glad that he wasn't a murderer, though shoving him was kind of cathartic.

...who the hell does *that*?

How about - a polite knock and/or wave through the window? Sheesh.

I wondered that! Like, if he'd thought for one second...

O HAI.

oh boy. I'm glad that the story was a funny one, and go you for finding strength. Nice that he was trying to be helpful.

I too have decided to try and be more active on LJ/DW, I've been doing well this month, probably too much *g* Although I don't think many people read my journal anymore. :P The kids are alright, having some "battles" with LM#2, I'm determined to win. :)

*hugs to you*

Thank you! I am kind of proud of myself for reacting instead of freezing. And yeah, once he'd explained I felt a little bad (a little but not very.)

I don't think it's too much! I love hearing from you even if I fail at commenting. I'm glad everyone is well. And I don't think LM#2 can outstubborn you. :)

*smish*

Garden of Iden is so great! The whole series gets decidedly weirder as it goes on, but I still mull over some of her concepts and remember them with great fondness. She was such an interesting writer.

WTF with that guy? It's amazing how many men don't think about how threatening that kind of thing can be. *hugs*

I'm kinda with everyone else. WTF dude? I mean it wasn't like you were slumped over, and could be presumed dead. (we have an older employee at work that sometimes will nap in his car. More than once he's been presumed dead, he's scared the living daylights out of more than one person by waking up) Your seatbelt was simply hanging outside your door? There are any number of reasons for why you'd be in the parking lot.

I'd probably have shoved my door hard into him too. And he'd be lucky that was all I'd be doing (I might get a little vocal and kinda angry when people do stupid shit like that), cuz it's srsly kinda screwed up! So, end of my mini rant? You go girl!
