I have an eos lip balm sphere. It is awesome.

The color saturation on this picture delights me.

I love these delicious pictures you've been posting. Thank you!

Also, I wrote a 1000+ word post about the problems with timely access to mental healthcare even for insured people, inspired by your twitter link from earlier, but I haven't posted it because it seems like it would a strange sort of rock dropping in the middle of my LJ and I don't know what to do with it. Do you have any suggestions?

The color is lovely, yes. And the color isn't all that's lovely.

Hm. Are you on dreamwidth? Most of my disability comms are there.

Let's see. I love fucking_meds, fucking_docs, disability and disabled_rage. (I also think it's totally fair to post it on your LJ, seeing as it's your space to discuss what you'd like, but I understand YMMV. *loff*)

Sorry, I feel like I should be more helpful because I would LOVE to read that post. I wish there was a fucking_insurance comm for talking about insurance fail.

Thank you, I'll check those out! And really, it's not even insurance! The main thrust of what I wrote is that there needs to be some kind of access to mental healthcare along the same model as urgent care like Patient First and whatever. Like, if I have a medical issue that needs to be treated within the next day or two but which isn't immediately life-threatening, I probably can't get into my PCP but I can go to Patient First and have it taken care of. OTOH, when I've had mental health crises while not currently in treatment with a psychiatrist, I was offered appointments a month in the future and told that if I needed help sooner than that I should go to the emergency room. And clearly there can be a point where a person needs help quite soon, and the person recognizes that and is being responsible about seeking help, but the options are wait a month or go to the hospital. And the latter option would lead to a) more care than needed, and b) major financial issues. (Urgent care or doctor visit for me: $30. ER or hospital admission: hundreds or thousands.) So, I don't understand why psychiatrists don't keep last minute appointments open, like pediatricians and whatnot do, and I don't understand why insurance companies don't push for that given that the cost difference for them is pretty big, too.

I'm not in that situation right now--things are fine right now--but in the past several years there were two times when I was spending my lunch hour in my car outside work calling shrinks trying to get a very soon appointment and ending up just crying because nobody would help me. :\
