Yes, another EMH thing.
Jun. 3rd, 2011 05:36 pmIf Winchester was a verb, that's what Jeff would be doing.
It's interesting that all the analogies to SPN that I originally made in my head (around Thanksgiving when I really got fannish) about EMH are so horrifyingly inaccurate. I thought if there was a Dean, it'd be Evan, the psychotic snarky and painfully macho guy who just wanted to kill the cosmic horror with a baseball bat. Jeff would be Sam, the sad kid with floppy hair whose girlfriend died (which makes Jessa into Jessica Moore, the dead girlfriend). Vince might be Bobby. Alex was Adam: young, sheltered, always doomed. Steph is Anna, because she's awesome and because of the institutionalization. Slender Man is obviously God: he writes bad horror novels in his spare time. Which would explain a lot about the Slender Man blogs I've read, if they're self-promotion.
Obviously this is setting blood relationships aside, since Jeff and Alex are the only family by blood. Although Vinnie, Evan, Jeff and Stephanie are adopted into the same family in the alternate universe and you don't see people in EMH fandom such as it is getting all OMG INCEST WHAT INSTA BAN over that. I think it has to do with Alex and Jeff being actually for-reals brothers and because Jeff reads his own fanfic like a creator who's never been traumatized by kink-meme fills about dogfucking. I think I've been jaded by years of SPN incest.
Anyway. Then the series evolved and information came out, and the analogy shifted. And with that letter (link here) it becomes clear that Jeff is Dean. I mean! "Of course it was devastating. But I have a brother to look after." Yeah. If selling one's soul was an option, Jeff would do it. Alex is his link to pre-Slendy life.
Hopefully that reference to Animal Collective, the band that's only come up in reference to HABIT, is not a clue, because that would stomp on my heart. Um. More than the letter did.
If Evan isn't Dean, I don't know who else he'd be. Maybe Snake from Escape from New York. "I thought you'd be taller." Because when Jeff is all Sad Panda, Evan is the motherfucker trying to plot a madcap scheme to steal a tank to killGod Slendy.

Date: 2011-06-04 09:09 pm (UTC)Slender Manthe Yellow-Eyed Man on his own, but stuck it out at home instead. Of course, if Evan ever remotely believed that he could keep his friends safe by leaving and drawing the menaces away, I bet he would.no subject
