5. By age, who is your youngest character? Oldest? How about “youngest” and “oldest” in terms of when you created them?

The youngest character I've written is probably, um, the POV of Castiel in uteru. God, that sounds so weird. But y'know, only minutes after the start of consciousness in a fetus = young? I guess? And I wrote the birth scene for him in the same story, so even if you disregard the statistical outlier of the fetus POV, it's still him. *laugh*

Oldest character, age-wise, is still Lilith from Ragnarok 'verse. I don't know exactly how old she was supposed to be, in terms of years, but: older than the Earth.

Youngest character if we're talking about when they were created... um, the evil OMC in the "fuck or die" fic was literally just written while I was typing this, because I can't focus on one thing at a time.

The oldest character I can remember writing was Adele, the gratuitous self-insert witch of my first fantasy novel. I was 11. You can pretty much guess what she was supposed to be like.

Oh the Mary Sues I wrote in my childhood. They were always oppressed, yet loved by those who counted, and secretly SUPER TALENTED (because what Mary Sue isn't super talented?) I hate reading Mary Sues, but as a 12 year old I remember how much fun I had writing them. After all, in middle school you're "too old" to play make believe but you still want to be the hero in all your favorite stories.

Exaaaactly. Although I don't think you're ever too old for make-believe. *grin*

I miss writing Mary Sues. I might try my hand at one and then, y'know, post it anonymously in my shame.

Now I sort of want to write a giant Mary Sue in honor of all my childhood Mary Sues. I remember creating an epic X-Men 'verse story where my OC was a fourteen year old from a tribe of Amazons who was shunned by her people because she accidentally got her mother killed on a hunt. Wolverine and Gambit totally took her in as a younger sibling.

I distinctly remember writing something where she got super depressed and decided to get drunk (because I was 13 and that was the most rebellious thing I could think of doing... not that I'd ever done it). I had her drink an entire bottle of After Shock by herself so I could give her the most emo dialogue ever. Yeah, apparently 13 year olds don't know about alcohol poisoning.

It was horrible writing and terribly naieve, but wish fulfillment is incredibly satisfying even when it shouldn't be shared with the world in general.

Oh and I just remembered the character I wrote for a Les Miserables message board RP. Gavroche was taken so I used an utterly obscure orphan from the novel and made him an elaborate OC where he was terribly abused, but brilliant and witty, and oh so excited about the upcoming battle because what's more romantic than being SHOT? Yeah. I was totally an awkward child. I wrote Les Miserables RP based on the NOVEL. *facepalm*
