There are unsafe situations in the world, and speaking up is not some magickal thing that instantly makes you safe.

This whole revolting situation makes me hate people even more. I feel so incredibly sorry for the women who were made to feel so terrible at WinCon '08, and for the harm this entire online clusterfuck must have contributed to.
