Watched Manhunter this weekend. Amazingly good serial killer movie, because it didn't pander to the audience. The Tooth Fairy was a pitiful monster, but he was a monster and he needed to be put down. Will Graham (who I loved in Red Dragon anyway) was troubled and scary and vulnerable, climbing into the killer's head, becoming. The focus was on Will, not on the cameo by Hannibal Lector, and the movie read better for it. Also, the climax was the best use of Inna Gadda da Vida like, EVER. Yes, even SPN. And the film had these gorgeous visual moments that punched you in the throat.

I need to be writing something, but finals are coming up on Wednesday. I'm tired already. Because of that pressure, it's hard to squish out words.

*spoilers for anyone who has not seen Manhunter/Red Dragon*

I haven't seen Manhunter in a long time-- I remember absolutely loving it right up until the ending. I'd read the book first, and I was up until 3 in the morning because I had to get to the end, and then the twist with Dolarhyde shooting the coworker instead and actually being loose somewhere freaked me the hell out. LOL I was really looking forward to seeing how they handled it in the movie, and then . . . nada. lol Need to watch it again sometime, though.

Oohh, yes. I loved William Peterson in that movie :) It was just more... stunning to me when I saw it years ago. And then when I saw Red Dragon, it was good, but didn't make such an impression on me, especially visually like you said.

And just as a thing... Waters by Kat Reitz and Tzigane wrote this cool Manhunter/CSI crossover where Gil is actually Will and it ends up being Gil/Greg. You should check it out sometime ;)
