Dec. 25th, 2008 06:25 pmMerry Christmas to those who celebrate! Love and renewal to you all.
Went to a UU ceremony with the parents. That's starting to look like the best choice for the new year as far as celebrations go. I liked the atmosphere of the San Antonio UU; there's a ton of gays, lesbians and brassy old women, as well as people in wheelchairs. Actually, they're gonna need to add parking spaces to the lot if they get any more folks in chairs. So the ritual was Dylan Thomas's "A Child's Christmas in Wales" followed by a candle-lighting, with Lennon's So This Is Christmas song by a soprano with a gorgeous voice. Well, THAT turned into the whole church rocking in place with their candles held up like lighters at a Skynyrd concert. Good times.
The wife will be coming soon. I miss her very much, more than words can say. It's only been a few days, and after 5 years of marriage you'd think I'd be used to this, but I still miss her at my side. I want to tell her stories. I wanted her beside me during the ceremony, lighting my candle.
The parents have a kitten, Weejo, who's been the major thing keeping me from moping. You can't mope when a fluffball tries to climb your lap, purring fiercely and wriggling and begging to be held like a baby. She's a wee Maine Coon, and her back leg was shattered before they got her. So the rescue paid for her surgery and she spent a few months on 3 legs. Now she gets around fine, but that leg is stiff and straight and drags behind her as she tears (jingling the whole way) around the house with her toys in her mouth. NEEEE.
And now I read Mom's pagan books, including Pagel's The Gnostic Gospels. \o/
