The next morning, Jeff gets high.

Not a contemplative, easy kind of high. He takes the stash that he was saving for a poker game and smokes it himself. He keeps going until he stops thinking about Jensen upstairs in his bed, about how easy it would be to slide in behind him and pull his leg up and slip inside, real sweet. About the flat of Jensen's belly under his palm and the thought of that swelling over the months with a baby, with Jeff's baby. About whether even now things are brewing inside to make a little person, cells splitting as Jeff sits here wondering how long it'll be before he can forgive himself for this.

Yeah. It's not the most responsible thing Jeff's ever done, but he smokes up until he's sprawling on his couch, eating cereal from the box and watching the ceiling fan spin over his head. He feels stupid with it, dizzy and dry-mouthed, his bones melting slowly into the upholstery.

He hears footsteps on the stairs, and then Jensen is standing at the end of the couch. Naked. He's rumpled and sleep-flushed and beautiful, god, so fucking gorgeous that Jeff feels something break inside.

"Hi," Jeff says. He feels shy, which is stupid since he's supposed to fuck Jensen pregnant, but there you go. He's always been better with dogs. "Morning."

Jensen glances at the bong, eyebrows furrowing, then at the cereal box.

"Uh." Wiping his hand on his sweats, Jeff puts the box down and tries to sit up. It doesn't really work on the first try, the couch pulling him back down. "You hungry? I can make breakfast. I-"

Jeff watches the fan spin another few cycles, and that still doesn't help Jensen make sense. He sighs and grabs the throw off the back of the couch, wiping off his dick. "I'm making waffles," he yells up the stairs. "With chips!"

No answer. Bisou perks up at the mention of food, her tail wagging.

"It's going to be a long six months," Jeff tells her, and goes to turn the stove on.
