nilchanceHard weekend in RL. Migraine + six month anniversary of Mom's death + overnight fostering a mama dog and her 4 pups + overexhaustion = saaaaaad. Also, all my denial about exactly how bad my depression's gotten has started detonating repeatedly in my face. Seriously, I realized that I was afraid to use my new coloring book (long story) because I would somehow fail at it. At coloring. In a coloring book. With crayons. So YEAH.
However, our total of rescued dogs is up to 94. And we have many pictures of the miracle of motherhood, which involved a lot of poop and yelping and gnawing of teats.

Day 18-- Favorite antagonist and why.
(I have the first 17 days of this meme on LJ; I'm trying to be better at crossposting.)
For fanfic, my favorite antagonist is probably Legion from the CWRPS raven-verse. Because it's a cosmic horror, and it's the boogeyman, and its motives are so far from human that the light from humanity may reach it in about a thousand years. Maybe. It does what it does because that's what it is, it's as amoral as a shark eating baby seals and just as hungry. Hive mind creatures, starfish aliens, are interesting to write for me because I've never done so before. Challenges are good. Keeps things interesting.
For original fic, I like Vincent in the Ragnarok 'verse. He's based on Vincent Price, so he has that great intelligent menace, and yet he also evolved into his own person with his own questionable motives. He does things because he's the protagonist of his own story; he has a singular code of honor, he's a magnificent bastard, and he loves his children and will protect them at all cost. And yet he does very very bad things; he gets his son's boyfriend, the recovering addict, exposed to a drug that will kill him, because he doesn't approve of the relationship. I mean, dude's crazy. And yet, also awesome.
