Jun. 14th, 2018 01:32 pmI realized while browsing Tumblr the other day that I've been the absolute scum of various fandoms in various ways since I started writing Gargoyles fanfic in 1995 at the ripe old age of 13.
Mary Sues paired with various cartoon characters? Done 'em. Slash in various macho fandoms like Metallica and pro wrestling? Yeah, that's where I met my wife. RPS? Boy howdy, let me show you my etchings. Non-con and incest? Bitch, please, just look at my AO3. Which just means that when there are posts on Tumblr about how those gross old fandom hags are ruining fandom with their unapologetically fucked up (but well tagged!) fic and their daring to exist in public, stuff that would've genuinely bothered me at one point, now just kind of makes me go "o sweet summer child, my bad taste is probably older than you are."
Being an old fandom hag is sometimes tiring and sometimes kind of awesome.
