nilchance: original art from a vintage print; art of a woman being struck by lightning (customer service)
One of my favorite professors just hit me with some unfortunate
ignorance. "The worst invention we ever made was the elevator, because
(blah blah health blah blah Death Fat)."

Dude. You are in a disability support office, and you're telling me
straight-faced that you're sorry we invented a bit of technology that
allows our students (and ME, and my WIFE) to get to the second story
of buildings? To live their lives, and attend your classes, and work and get health care and get their kids to daycare? All because you're afraid you'll gain a few pounds because you cannot make the CHOICE of taking the steps?

Teaspoons in the ocean, man. Every word and every day. Sometimes I wish I could punt some folks overboard.
