As much as I love Jeff in this 'verse, he unsettles me in this chapter. I've read it over three or four times now, and I always get the end with the same uncertain look on my face. There's something off with him - he's not smooth, way not subtle with the money. Feel like I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop. Great job with the tension.
