How's this:

Another day, another round of haunting the library. It didn't really bother him, Sam thought. Though it was a little annoying that neither Dean nor Dad would do it.

Sure, get a guy outa hell, get your brother's deal revoked, and you still have to deal with the locals, and their shitty, dusty fucking records. No love.

Worse, they were in Texas during the summer, and the library's air conditioning was on the blink. Sam walked up to the desk, putting on his best smile. "I'm sorry to bother you, ma'am," he murmured at the elderly woman behind the desk. "I'm looking for the microfilm for the Hondo Anvil Herald for 1965."

"Oh dear, I'm afraid Lupeta has that year. She's over there. You an get it when she's done."

Sam headed in the direction of the woman's vague gesture, and finally caught sight of the woman in front of the reader. She was obviously of Mexican descent, but there was more to it than that, an odd cant of her eyes, a wave to her black hair. Worst of all was the body--lush, and ripe, and totally not at all what he normally went for, but he found himself responding just the same.

As though she felt him watching, she looked up, pinning him with dark eyes, and scowling.

For the first time, Sam wished he had Dean's confidence with girls. He'd never tell it to his brother, but Jessica had pursued him. They'd gone out for the first time because she told him they were going to, and his ass better be ready at seven.

She was looking at him expectantly, and Sam forced his usual bullshit smile. "Hi, when you're done, can I take a look at that?"
