nilchanceI just spent 10 minutes plugging my ears to drown out my coworkers talking about the evils of public health care. Something about those injuns putting up teepees on the side of the road (what road? don't ask silly questions) and leaving their elderly to die. Which is offensive on several levels and may have set the bar for new ignorant discussions to come. But hey, let's start with: without public health care, my partner would have been uninsured when a doctor said her spine was squishing her spinal cord, and probably could not have gotten any painkillers for this agonizing condition. So y'know. Call me a communist.
Our health care system is just fine as it is!, an awesome takedown of the current health care system. "I had cancer a few years ago. I like the fact that if I lose my job, I won't be able to get any insurance because of my illness. It reminds me of my homeowners' insurance, which gets canceled after a break-in. I like the choice I'd face if, God forbid, the cancer recurs—sell my house to pay for the hundreds of thousands of dollars in treatment, or die. That's what you call a "post-existing condition.""

And that's how I feel about today.
