It's a full moon night, a blue aura around every star and streetlight. Her light.

He thought, lying in the damp leaves with painpainpain in his neck and Max running away from him, he thought his Lady had left him. He had ached in his heart and he had doubted, but he hadn't surrendered, even as Lydecker bent and felt his pulse, even as he realized that his legs were dead at his hips.

Then Lydecker rose and walked away from him, barking out orders that swam away into darkness. Silence.

Waiting. He expected the knife and the searing overhead flureoscents, the body bag, the anonymous pyre.

Instead there came her light, her light, blue and sweet and painless. He was worthy, she was pleased, she spoke his name like a bell that swelled out the bitter world...

And then, he was here. He is here, crushed to the muddy ground with his weariness. He feels well-used, cleaned and returned to the sheath like a favorite weapon. The sky is clear above him, its scattered white stars just like the ones he saw with Max. He studies them, burning them into his disc-drive memory as he flexes his toes and then his ankles. The muscles move as they should, without pain, and his joy is fierce. He smiles up at her, and he knows she is watching even before he hears air rustling through wings.

"Ben," someone says, a stern low voice that would shatter Ordinary eardrums.

His name. Ben curls his fingers around it like a familiar gun.

Kipping up in one smooth move, blurring-fast for the uncomplicated fun of it, Ben turns his face towards the messenger. Her creature, just like him. They are a unit without betrayal, only the worthy to serve.

The messenger burns silver, but within that glory, Ben can see the form: a slim human male, a worn suit. A tie.

"She sent you for me," Ben says, brimming with pride.

It tilts its head minutely. "Yes," the angel says. "We have work for you."

Ben smiles.

*flails* Okay so I saw that you had posted this right before I had to go to work and I spent all day happily knowing that this was waiting for me. Then when I got home I waited so this would be the last thing I read before I went to bed because I freakin' ADORE this crossover. Alec is quite possibly my favorite fictional character ever, so anytime my favorite smartass is combined with my favorite siblings, I'm a very happy camper. This was definitely worth the wait. Ben's POV is so wonderfully unique. I love how it drips with religous imagry. You can practically see the Blue Lady Filter he views the world with. I especially like the idea of him being a weapon being sheathed. And CASTIEL! Seriously dude, you're breaking me here. I can't possibly read this much awesome in one sitting. This crossover makes me so very happy. *g*
