You know, I noticed it last time, but it was subtle enough to possibly be just me...but I'm really intrigued by the world you're creating here; it seems like there's more to this than just transplanting them to Chicago; there's an almost Handmaid feel to this, Jensen trapped in circumstances much bigger than poverty. I'm really interested to see what (if) you do with it.
I really like the not-exactly-metaphor you have going on here of Jensen as a feral alley cat; wanting desperately to trust, terrified of doing so and still fiercely determined to prove his independence. And of course, Jeff is perfect: tolerant, amused by Jensen's antics, patient...perfect.
