Whoa, the POV really took a tour this chapter. From Sam to John to Mary to Dean to ... it was a bit of a rollercoaster after that, but damn it worked well.

Duct-tape - yes! *fistpump* But, ew, bubbling duct-tape? It disturbs me that this demon can affect the good silver stuff that holds the universe together. It truly is evil. And hard on the linens, too.

Oh poor Sam, with the demon finally getting a good lock on his issues and adding him to the whisperingness. The loss of Jess is still so new, a year is hardly enough to get over such a traumatic event. And he's still so young, even if he's all grown up. Bad demon, picking on the baby. No demon biscuit for it. Hmph.

Honestly, when I read the smoke/burning skin thing, just as the church door was opened, I really thought they were about to find Andrew plastered to the ceiling, burning, with Dean holding him there. Gave me quite a turn, it did.

What was actually going on got straightened out in my mind really quickly in the next paragraph, but the false *eek* was cool.

Oven mitt! *hee* ::loves on Dean::

Interesting bit of suggested power struggle there with Andrew. Not sure of exactly what's going on with him, but it's damn intriguing. And I'm glad John's gonna keep an eye on him - that way we'll get more detail about whatever Andrew's deal is.

I absolutely adore your Mary. She really kicks ass and calls them all on their BS, even Andrew (whatever his "real" name might be...).

Mary's presence and actions hint at dues ex machina, but I don't care. She's great, tough and badass but with a wry slightly twisted sense of humor, very much a suitable match for John. I can almost see what they'd all be like, what their life would be like, if Mary hadn't been killed. And I hope we never find out too much about canon Mary, because I'm sure she won't be allowed to measure up to your Mary. ::squishes Mary, but in the good way::

Oh Dean. Dean, sweet woobie Dean. Mary gave him a major dose of mom-ness, something he's undoubtedly been wanting and needing forever. (Dean the caretaker, Dean the substitue mom, Dean the heart of the family but only as a stand-in for Mary. *tiny fists of angst flail mightily*)

Some lovely paragraphs of ... description? explication? exposition? I'm really not sure, but they're lovely and evocative. Like the one about 23 years ... and the one about Mary bonding with unborn Sam ... and *sob*

Sam ... on the one hand, he doesn't know Mary at all, but of course on the other hand she is the center around which the Winchester men turn.. She's a huge presence in Sam's life just by her absense and the effect that absence had/has on John and Dean. This was a nice, low-key meeting, leading into the appearance of Jess.

Of course, Dean, observing, is both happy that Sam has this opportunity for closure *and* hurts without understanding why. And neither he nor Sam could (at this time) understand the significance of:

"Dean's going to need you. So. I'll just say that I love you so, so much. I couldn't be prouder. And it won't make sense now, but I want you to know it's okay."

Sam blinked, turning his head to look at her. "What's okay?"

"Don't worry for now. I love you. Your father loves you. And that's not changing."

*squee* Score! *fistpump*
